Commercial Garbage Collection Services

The City of Seattle contracts with Allied Waste Services for pick-up of garbage and recycling from businesses.

Typically, tenants do not have decision-making ability for their garbage and recycling services. These tenants need to talk to their Property Manager or Building Owner for service-related questions and desired changes.

Starting January 1, 2005 a new City of Seattle ordinance prohibits recyclable paper, cardboard and yard debris in commercial garbage. The ordinance is designed to increase Seattle's recycling rate, conserve resources, and lower the cost of doing business.

As a service of the City of Seattle, Allied Waste offers up to two free 96-gallon mixed recycling carts for businesses currently signed up for garbage service in the City of Seattle. Recycling service includes paper, cardboard, cans and plastic bottles. Carts are emptied every other week.
