What Goes in the Recycling Cart?

Place your recycling cart out by 6:00 am on your scheduled collection day.


Place clean and dry recyclable items into the recycling carts. Put extra recyclables in paper bags or boxes, marked "Recycling" and place near the recycling cart or container on collection day.


If you are not a garbage customer, Recycling Service is available for a monthly fee. If you are a garbage customer, the charge for Recycling Service is a mandatory fee.

Paper
  • Paper, junk mail, catalogs, cardboard (flattened, less than 3'x3'), magazines, newspaper, telephone books, paperback books, paper boxes (liners removed), gift wrap (no foil or ribbon).
  • Plastic-coated paper cartons & boxes, including drink boxes (soy and juice, rinsed), frozen food boxes (clean), milk cartons (rinsed), juice cartons and ice cream cartons (flattened and no lids)*

  • All plastic bottles and jugs (milk, pop, detergent) with lids removed
  • Round dairy tub (yogurt, cottage cheese)

  • Aluminum cans (rinsed)
  • Scrap metals, less than 2' in any direction and less than 35 lbs. in weight per item (no wood, rubber, plastic or other contaminants)
  • Tin cans (rinsed and labels removed)

  • Bottles and jars of any color (rinsed and no lids)
    No dishes, ceramics or drinking glasses
* Not sure if a carton or box is plastic or poly-coated? Use the scratch and tear test. If you scratch it and see wax, throw it into the Garbage. If you tear it and see a thin layer of plastic-coated paper, rinse, flatten and recycle!
