The History of Allied Waste in Washington State

Allied Waste has been providing Washington residents and businesses with disposal and recycling services since 1927.

Today Allied Waste provides critical solid waste collection and disposal as well as recycling collection and processing services to hundreds of thousands of Washington residents throughout Washington State.

Allied Waste, along with our affiliated Allied Waste Companies, operate solid waste collection systems, landfills, recycling centers and portable sanitation services throughout the northwest. Our collection companies are located in Seattle, Bellevue, Lynnwood, Kent and Goldendale, Washington. Our landfill operations are located in Roosevelt, Washington providing excellent security and easy access via our extensive intermodal system.

Our state of the art recycling center is located in Seattle, Washington - 1 mile south of downtown. Our facility is equipped with the latest technology, ensuring our ability to process, clean and ship a wide variety of commodities in an efficient manner. This technology allows our customers at homes and at businesses to commingle all recyclables together, including newspapers, magazines, mixed household papers, old corrugated containers, cereal boxes, soft drink cartons, chipboard, boxboard, office paper, tin cans, aluminum cans, and plastic bottles. Efficient sorting and processing is accomplished in our Material Recovery Facilities (MRF) prior to shipment to the final users. Our MRF is the largest of its kind on the west coast processing over 16,000 tons of material each month. We also have recently installed specialized equipment for recycling construction and demolition debris. We can assist contractors in achieving LEEDS certification.
